Canadian Red Cross - Marine Advanced First Aid & CPR Course

Marine Advanced First Aid & CPR: Comprehensive First Aid & CPR techniques with scenarios taken from the marine/fishing industry, for individuals who need this specialized training for work. The course covers a variety of topics from basic (such as cardiovascular emergencies for Adults, CPR Level A, and other topics including choking, airway and breathing emergencies and prevention of disease transmission) to in-depth ones, such as sudden medical conditions and injuries to the head and spine.

  • The Emergency Medical Services System
  • Emergency Action Principles
  • Airway and Breathing Emergencies
  • Cardiovascular Emergencies/Strokes
  • CPR
    • First Aid for Strokes, angina, heart attacks
  • Bleeding Management and Shock
  • Secondary Survey
  • Preventing of Disease Transmission
  • Injuries to the Head and Spine
  • Musculoskeletal Injuries
    • Broken bones, sprains, strains, dislocations. Splinting techniques
  • Sudden Medical Conditions
    • diabetic emergencies, asthma, anaphylactic shock, seizures, heat exhaustion
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Poison
    • WHMIS introduction, anaphylactic shock

Certification : valid for three years upon successful completion of course.
